I'm back at it again collecting iron and hopefully some diamonds on my newer world. Right now, luck with caves is minimal. The ravine I went into in the savanna only had 5 iron in total. I then went to a mesa, in which I recovered only 16 iron. I have enough for a full set of armor already, though I got kind of lost during the collecting.

The Savanna-jungle border.
I crafted some new tools and hunted cows till I had enough food for a while. I don't need to worry about preserving any animals now, except maybe the chicken for it's feathers. Though if I conserve enough arrows until I can get an Infinity enchantment, the chickens I won't need. I'll only need 31 diamonds for now so I can get a diamond pick and a diamond axe, as well as an enchantment table and a full set of armor. Next thing I'll craft is shield. When I set off, I really should've mined near the village until I could get a map.
I need one of those.
I soon ended up pretty successful, with 2 and a half stacks of coal and pretty much 1 hole stack of iron. I would've mined more, but after that, I decided my house of choice would be house on stilts with a nice large balcony.
I'm starting work on a small artificial pond to farm sugar cane and for decoration. As well as this and collecting diamonds, gold, lapis lazuli and redstone, I need to build my house and another barn to house the farm animals.
My very own Walden's Pond, sponsored by Minecraft.
Anyways, I will see you next blog post.
